In this series of 20 exercises I took breathtaking pieces of art that I admired, and attempted to recreate and learn from their use of chiaroscuro and composition.
First I converted them to grayscale to focus purely on the light and dark tones of the image, and then I gave myself an hour to recreate them as best I could on my digital table. Once I began improving (after the first 3-4) I gave myself extra time to go into the details. Here they are side-by-side with the originals.
